For the Love of Hair ❤︎

I get it. Switching to something you’ve never tried before can be scary. Think about how many great movies or TV shows or great restaurants you would’ve never even considered had you not tried it or had you listened to other peoples opinions. You’ll never know how great something could be if YOU don’t give it a try.

I held off on trying Monat for almost TWO years. I continued to try various brands and products because nothing was working for my hair. And when I say not working, I mean my scalp was still dry and flaky, my hair dull, lacked volume and shine. I finally said, “You know what, nothing else is working. I’m going to take a chance.” I kept seeing so many people have amazing results that it just made sense to give it a try. At first I wanted the results to be instant, but just like with anything else, you need to be consistent in order to see results. Think of a gym membership. If you do not routinely go to the gym, you are not going to see the results that you want. If you want to see changes in your hair, you need to be consistent. And that’s what I have been. I’ve only used Monat products over the last seven months. My hair is stronger, healthier, and the damn softest it has ever been!

My hair has always been the one thing that helps to boost my confidence, as silly as that may sound. I’ve done a lot of crazy things to my hair over the years. I would go to the salon spend $150+ to color my hair and then I would get in a mood and want to change it. I would go to CVS and pick up box dye. In one month I went from being brunette, to a redhead, to blonde; you could only imagine how terrible my hair looked after all of that. It was fried. It took three boxes of bleach to get the red out. After I had Emmy, I died my blonde hair brown, but within a month I was over it and wanted to be light again. I got a balayage. Didn’t like that either (the bottom of my hair was still brown and the top was blonde). A month or two later I spent three separate occasions in another salon to get my hair blonde again. My hair was not happy after all of that. Since then, I have allowed my natural color to grow out only getting highlights every couple of months. I’ve trimmed my ends which are no longer split or damaged. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been this happy with my hair.

Having used both salon quality products and store brand products I can honestly say Monat is different. I was never completely happy with how other brands left my hair (it was still dry and prone to breakage) and now I know why. I was using products that were layering my hair with cyclic silicones, silicones that are not easily dissolvable by water. They also were not protecting my hair from the heat I was applying to it day after day. They were only causing more damage. I share the products that I’m currently using because I would like for you to be as happy with your hair as I am with mine. It doesn’t matter if you have naturally, beautiful hair, curly, frizzy hair, or severely damaged hair. You can still switch to products that will actually protect your hair. Utilize those anti-aging, botanically based properties to ensure your hair stays healthy for as long as possible. Prevention is key when it comes to hair and skin care. Remember, you’ll never know how great something can be until you try it for yourself!
